The Grubb Family has a long standing obsession with James Bond that stretches back 35+ years! I saw my 1st Bond movie in the theater in 1979 – Moonraker starring Roger Moore as the titular spy (I was 12). From that moment on, it was tradition that the entire family would go opening weekend to see a new Bond flick. Wonderful memories!
We decided to step it up in 2006 by going to London for opening weekend of Casino Royale, Daniel Craig’s debut run as James Bond. We felt right at home amongst the rabid Bond fans and we’ve gone every year since: 2008 for Quantum of Solace and 2012 for Skyfall.
We’ve been eagerly awaiting details of the new Bond movie scheduled for November 2015. We were rewarded this morning with the announcement of the title for Bond 24: SPECTRE!
Long-time Bond fans know SPECTRE (SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion) as the global terrorist organization which debuted in the first Bond movie – Dr. No (1962). Many Bond villains since have worked for SPECTRE and with Christoph Waltz (two-time Oscar winner for portraying very bad men) as the lead scoundrel, this next installment is bound to be awesome! Filming will take place in London, Mexico City, Rome, Tangier and Morocco. Bond will also take to the snow again, this time in Sölden, Austria as well as Obertilliach and Lake Altausee. I CANNOT WAIT!!
It’s also exciting to introduce my twin nieces to Bond (although they will not be attending the movie!). It’s good to indoctrinate them early! ha, ha, ha.
