We would make the trek as a family a couple times each summer  and Eric (my brother) and I would go with our respective friends once we were old enough to drive!

It was a truly wonderful place and I vividly remember the devastation I felt when Eric was tall enough to ride the “big rides” and yet I was not. It bums me out thinking about it even now!  ha, ha, ha.

On several occasions, my friend and neighbor Stephanie Winks (now Edrington) would come along. Hence Stephanie’s question to Mom:

What was your favorite ride at Kings Island?

Her answer probably won’t surprise anyone:

Favorite Ride at Kings Island

Mom’s favorite ride at Kings Island – The Beast!

Yep, Mom loves the “rolly” coasters! Her personal favorite is the Beast! When it opened in 1979 (we went the year it opened!), the Beast was the tallest, fastest and longest wooden roller coaster in the world, clocking in at over 4 minutes.

The first time I was tall enough to ride the Beast – I threw up all over Dad! Yea, needless to say roller coasters are not my favorite! Alas, I cannot say that about Mom and Eric. Dad and I lost days of our lives waiting for the two of them to be done with riding rolly coasters!

I can hardly wait to take my nieces to Kings Island! My bet is Dani takes after Eric/Mom and Niki takes after me/Dad! Time will tell…..

For anyone who’s not been to Kings Island, I thought this was a great video from the front seat of the Beast. Enjoy!

Anyone been? What is your favorite ride at Kings Island? What is your favorite amusement park?!?!?
